Solana Jobs in Australia and NZ: Web3, DeFi, Stablecoins and Onchain Roles

Solana Jobs in Australia and NZ: Web3, DeFi, Stablecoins and Onchain Roles
Share

If you search "Solana jobs Australia" you will get half a dozen labels that look different and mean almost the same thing: web3, crypto, blockchain, onchain, DeFi, stablecoins. Recruiters and founders do not share a thesaurus. Candidates who only search one keyword miss half the market.

This is a field guide for people in Australia and New Zealand who want to work on Solana (or adjacent crypto rails), plus a short map of where the listings actually live. Two pages worth bookmarking first: web3.career's Australia + Solana board and devrels.xyz/jobs, which points at the main Solana-native hiring surfaces rather than reinventing another board.

The label maze: same market, different words

Job posts rarely say "we need a Solana person" and stop there. They use the language their founders grew up with. Knowing the subsets helps you search, filter and pitch without missing roles that are Solana-adjacent even when the title is generic.

  • Web3 is the broadest employer label. Product, design, community, legal, ops and engineering all show up here. If a company says web3, they may still ship primarily on Solana, Ethereum or multi-chain rails.
  • Crypto often means exchanges, brokers, compliance, markets, custody or consumer finance. Less "write a program," more "make money move under a licence."
  • Blockchain is the corporate-safe word. Banks, consultancies and enterprise teams use it. The stack might still be Solana under the hood.
  • Onchain signals builders who care about programs, accounts, transactions and product that lives on a public ledger, not a private pilot deck.
  • DeFi is the money layer: lending, perps, AMMs, yield, liquid staking, vaults. Skills: Rust/Anchor, risk, quantitative curiosity, security hygiene.
  • Stablecoins is payments and money infrastructure: issuance, reserves, compliance, treasury, cards, remittances. Australia now has licensed AUD issuers and a growing stack; see our pieces on AUD stables and AUDD / AUDM / dAUD.
  • Solana is the narrowest and most useful filter when you already know the chain. Pair it with role type (engineer, DevRel, design, legal) rather than only "Solana developer."

In practice you will also see Rust, TypeScript, mobile, indexers, validators, security, BD and DevRel. Those are skill tags inside the labels above, not competing industries.

Where ANZ candidates should actually look

web3.career/web3-jobs-australia+solana is one of the cleaner public views of roles tagged for Australia and Solana. You can further slice by city (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide) and by skill tags such as Rust, DeFi, design or product. Listings go stale like every board does, so treat it as a radar, not a guarantee that every post is still open. The value is pattern recognition: which companies hire into ANZ timezones, which roles are remote-friendly, which salaries are published.

devrels.xyz/jobs takes a different approach. It does not run its own board. It routes you to the Solana ecosystem's primary hiring surfaces:

  • Superteam Talent (jobs, bounties and grants matched to Solana skills)
  • Solana Careers (official Solana Foundation / ecosystem roles, including engineering and DevRel)
  • Superteam Earn (bounties and project-based work, useful if you want to ship before you get a full-time offer)

That split matters. web3.career is strong for geography-tagged commercial listings. Superteam and Solana Careers are stronger for ecosystem-native work, including roles that never hit SEEK. Use both.

Role families that keep showing up

From ANZ-facing boards and Solana ecosystem hiring, the demand clusters are predictable even when titles change weekly.

  • Protocol and systems engineers (Rust, Anchor, performance, security). Closest analogue outside crypto is high-stakes backend. Our Rust Melbourne → Solana pipeline piece is for people already thinking this way.
  • Full-stack and product engineers (TypeScript, React, wallet UX, indexers). Most consumer Solana apps live here.
  • DevRel and ecosystem. Docs, samples, workshops, community programs, content that helps builders ship. That is why a hub like devrels.xyz/jobs exists at all.
  • Product, design and growth for wallets, exchanges, neobanks and marketplaces. Magic Eden, KAST-style stablecoin banking and trading venues all hire non-engineering roles into Australia when they need local coverage.
  • Legal, compliance and finance ops. Digital asset platforms, AFSL-adjacent products and stablecoin issuers need people who understand both regulation and onchain flows. These jobs often hide under "crypto" or "fintech," not "Solana."
  • Research, quant and risk. Perps, MEV-aware systems and DeFi risk still hire for analysis even when pure engineering is full.

Remote, hybrid and city reality

A large share of Solana roles that accept ANZ candidates are remote or hybrid with US/EU team cores. Local listings cluster in Sydney and Melbourne for capital and builders, with Brisbane and Perth appearing when the company has a concrete presence. For city-level context on where founders actually sit, see the best Australian city to build a Solana startup.

New Zealand talent is often hired into the same remote pools. Search Australia filters on global boards anyway; many postings use "Australia" as a timezone proxy for APAC rather than a hard office requirement. Always read the visa and "must be in X" lines twice.

How to get hired when you are not already famous

Ecosystem hiring still rewards proof of work more than keyword-stuffed CVs.

  • Ship something public: a small Anchor program, a Seeker dapp, a dashboard, a security write-up.
  • Use bounties on Superteam Earn as paid portfolio pieces, not only as side cash.
  • Show up in community spaces: Solana ANZ Telegram, local meetups, Rust and builder circles. Warm intros still beat cold forms.
  • Search all the labels. A "stablecoin payments engineer" and a "Solana full-stack" role can be the same job with different marketing.
  • For founders hiring, post where builders already look: Superteam Talent and clear web3 boards beat only LinkedIn if you want Solana-native applicants.

A simple search stack

If you want a repeatable weekly routine:

  1. Scan Australia + Solana on web3.career, then widen to Australia + DeFi / Rust / design as needed.
  2. Open devrels.xyz/jobs and check Superteam Talent, Solana Careers and Earn in that order.
  3. Follow companies you care about on X and their careers pages; many never hit aggregators first.
  4. Keep one public proof-of-work repo or product link ready. Hiring managers in this ecosystem click links before they finish your summary paragraph.

Solana work in ANZ is real, but it is fragmented across labels and boards. Treat web3, crypto, blockchain, onchain, DeFi and stablecoins as one talent market with different storefronts. Start at web3.career for geo-tagged listings and devrels.xyz/jobs for the Solana-native path. Then ship something people can open.
